Descriptive Research Method :The Guidelines And Rules That You Must Follow

For the writing a dissertation or thesis, almost all students have to conduct primary or secondary research. Every research strategy and data needs some analytical technique for writing results and analysis chapter of a dissertation. In this article, I am going to talk about some rules and guidelines of descriptive research method that may help Masters' or Undergraduate in writing dissertation analysis.

One of the main aims of the subject of science is the explanation and the description that include prediction in detail. As the name indicates, the descriptive research methods are the ones that describe. These methods are not designed to make accurate predictions and they are not designed to explain or describe cause and effect situations.

There are three most important kinds of descriptive methods. These include case study methods, observational methods and survey methods.

The observational methods are also referred to as the field observation. In these cases, the animal or the human behavior is studied more closely. The second main kind is known as the case study method. In this case, the students are given the case studies and they are assigned the job to describe the case studies. in addition, it has been seen that the students are to make observations related to a certain individual or a group of individual. The case studies are not used for the determination of cause and effect and they cannot be used for the accurate predictions of cause and effect.

But there are certain issues with the case studies. These include the expectancy effects and atypical individuals. Expectancy effects are the ones that highlight the biases of the researcher or the individual. These may have an effect on the conclusion of the paper. This also adds into misrepresenting the descriptions and the interpretations of the researcher.

In the case of the survey method, the participants are included in the research, as they have to answer certain questions. When the questions from the survey has been answered, the conclusions are formed by the researcher that help in dealing with the situation as given in the topic. In these cases, there are some considerations that need to be taken into account. Firstly, there is a certain kind of questions tthat need to be included in the research survey. When the questions are more detailed and long, they tend to bring more boredom to the participants and the responses are usually longer and more detailed. The detailed answers are the ones that do not help in drawing proper conclusions. Thereby, there is a need that the questions in the survey are brief and designed in a proper manner.

One of the main facts in the case of the survey questions is that the willingness of the participants is to be asked. The permission need to be taken from the patients, if the survey is to be taken from the patients in a health care center, the permission is an important element in the case of the employees from a certain organization and it is also a very important element when the questions are to be asked from a set of customers in a shopping mall.

The descriptive research, thereby is the method that is known to describe a certain situation. The responses that are recorded from the surveys, the case studies and the lab results are the ones that are detailed and explained.
